Corinthians plan to settle about R$ 7.2 million owed to Shakhtar Donetsk for Maycon’s loan within 30 days after losing their appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
CAS has given the club up to 45 days from notification to pay. The ruling recognises a €1 million debt, adds 10% annual interest from the due dates, and fines of €75,000 and €45,000.
The club intend to pay despite Brazil’s transfer window being closed until 20 July. Failure to do so could bring a transfer ban, which applied from August 2025 to January this year.
Talks with Talleres over the Rodrigo Garro fee are not expected to be affected. “We are working. Talks have advanced a lot and I believe that, as soon as possible, perhaps next week, we will have the matter closed,” said president Osmar Stabile to Central do Timão.
Shakhtar took the case to FIFA in 2024 after more than two years of failed negotiations. Corinthians had sought to offset the sum via solidarity payments from Pedrinho’s 2021 move from Benfica to Shakhtar, but later failed to honour the agreement.
Maycon returned in 2022, completed four straight loans and made 140 appearances, winning the Paulistão and Copa do Brasil in 2025. He signed permanently for Atlético Mineiro at the start of 2026.
