Yuri Alberto impressed on his return as Corinthians drew with Chapecoense at Arena Condá in the seventh round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza also stood out with two important saves from the hosts’ few clear openings.

According to Globo.com, Dorival Júnior rested most regulars. Corinthians showed bright spells before the interval, then dipped after the break as their play remained concentrated through the middle.

Andre produced one of the team’s best moments with a firm effort on 12 minutes of the first half. Allan squandered a good chance on 28 minutes after a Rodrigo Garro set piece. Garro was also denied by a fine save from a first-half free kick.

Back fit, Yuri Alberto injected vertical threat, drawing a strong stop on 12 minutes of the second half. Later he teed up Garro, who failed to convert, while João Pedro erred during one Chapecoense attack.

Matheus Pereira knitted play well and gave the attack a different rhythm, but, coming off an injury lay-off, he tired in the second half and was substituted. Andre competed reliably in midfield.

Andre Ramalho had a quiet outing with a few mistakes yet no major damage. Milans and Angileri offered little going forward without compromising the defence. Vitinho made little impact, while substitutes Matheuzinho and Breno Bidon could not change the picture, and Kayke was not rated.
