Corinthians began Friday preparations for the decisive final round of the Paulista first phase, combining recovery and technical work, as Memphis celebrated his 32nd birthday with a party in São Paulo.

The Timão visit São Bernardo at Estádio Primeiro de Maio on Sunday at 20:30 Brasília time. According to Globo.com, players who logged more than 45 minutes in Thursday’s 2-0 win over Red Bull Bragantino did indoor recovery at CT Joaquim Grava.

The rest completed strength work in the gym, then moved outside for numerical-superiority and finishing drills, plus a small-sided game.

The evening event carries a futuristic theme inspired by the Matrix films, with guests, including players and staff, encouraged to wear black at Memphis’s suggestion.

Defender Gabriel Paulista joked that dressing for Memphis takes effort, said he has chosen his outfit and plans to post it later, and recalled enjoying a party in Madrid when they were team-mates. He spoke at Neo Química Arena on Thursday after the win.

Corinthians train again on Saturday afternoon, their final session before São Bernardo. They have 11 points and sit fifth in the Paulistão, inside the qualification places but not yet assured of a quarter-final spot.
