Corinthians are preparing to push for a new deal for Memphis Depay, with his situation to be prioritised once a settlement is reached with Talleres over Rodrigo Garro.
According to Globo.com, the club owe around R$ 40 million to the 32-year-old in signing-on fees and performance bonuses, and any extension depends on agreeing how that will be paid.
The forward understands the financial picture and is waiting for the Talleres impasse to be resolved before opening talks on the amounts due. Once an instalment plan is defined, renewal discussions should begin.
Behind the scenes, Corinthians are also seeking a company to help cover his wages. Esportes da Sorte, which currently funds part of his salary, no longer has a contractual clause earmarking payment for a high-profile signing.
Memphis is under contract until 20 July 2026 and wants to extend and stay. He feels fully settled in Brazil and has formed a strong connection with the club.
The recent arrivals of Zakaria Labyad and Jesse Lingard, friends from his time in Europe, are viewed as indications he could continue in the country.
Given the finances, he would be open to revisiting clauses and giving up certain privileges if Corinthians present a convincing career plan. The building of a competitive side and the club’s sporting ambitions would also weigh on his decision.
