Corinthians share behind-the-scenes of hard-fought Copa Sul-Americana win

Last Sunday, the 26th, Corinthians defeated Quimsa-ARG and secured a spot in the South American Basketball League playoffs. On the club's channel, the behind-the-scenes of the decisive game were shared, featuring the coach's pep talk and the celebration of standout players.

“So, gentlemen, we can control our actions. So, we will control our actions well. Believe from the beginning to the end. The end is when we say: ‘now we can't run anymore, we don't have to run’. And we will seek our victory. Let's go!”, said coach Jece Leite before the game started.

After the pep talk, the content showed the highlights of the match, which ended in overtime with the necessary score for Corinthians to qualify for the next phase.

The standout of the match was Elyjah Clark, who scored an impressive 35 points, along with Davaunta Thomas, who added another 22 in total. Gabriel Novaes contributed with nine rebounds, and Elinho once again led in assists, with five in total.

“First for me, I needed to respond after yesterday's game (Saturday), I wanted to respond in great style, to help my team reach the final phase. And for the team, you know what I mean? It means a lot to step on the court today, playing for ourselves and for Corinthians, so we believe and we have to keep believing in ourselves“, celebrated Clark.

“There's no way not to think we deserved it so much, there's no way, what we're going through day-to-day to get here. First, we went through last season to qualify, and these three days here, our board... Montanha, what went on these days to make the event happen, and the guys getting the result on the court as they did, they followed the plan to the end with suffering, which is hard to say, but it's very much our style and we did it, we're in the next phase”, said the coach after the qualification.

“I think today was a very special victory, it couldn't have been any other way, when you talk about Corinthians, we talk about giving it all until the end, giving everything on the court and today was really the face of Corinthians, we managed to represent our fans well on the court, it went down to the wire, it was a long game, but we believed until the end, made it happen, this is very important, our feeling is of happiness for the project”, emphasized Victão, one of the team captains.

Now, Corinthians turns its attention to the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). Next Wednesday, the 29th, Timão returns to Wlamir Marques to host Vasco, in a game that takes place at 8 PM for the third round of the competition.
