Corinthians stay seventh in Paulistão after 1-1 draw with Santos | OneFootball

Corinthians remained seventh in the Campeonato Paulista with five points after a 1-1 draw with Santos as the fourth round concluded on Thursday night.

According to Meu Timao, Dorival Júnior’s side began the round with a chance to climb to fourth, but a controversial Gabriel Barbosa free-kick, amid complaints about the foul awarded, meant they stayed inside the G8 places.

They are level on points with Santos, who sit eighth. Guarani, who beat Velo Clube, and Botafogo, who defeated Primavera, are also on five. Corinthians edge Santos on goals scored and hold a better goal difference than the interior duo.

The next round starts the second half of the points phase, and Corinthians could reach fourth if they beat Velo Clube and São Bernardo, Capivariano and Portuguesa drop points. Red Bull Bragantino lead the table on 10 points and are the only unbeaten team.

Corinthians return on Sunday 25 to face Velo Clube at Benitão at 20:30 in the fifth round.
