Corinthians have escalated their dissatisfaction with 2026 Campeonato Paulista refereeing, filing a new complaint with FPF vice-president Mauro Silva on Monday after two matches marked by errors.
According to Meu Timao, the club’s main objections centre on the 1-1 draw with Santos and the 1-0 win over Velo Clube in rounds four and five. The board also argues that top-flight Paulistão officiating should be professionalised.
Internally, Corinthians believe the new format, which limits the first phase to only eight decisive games for qualification and relegation, leaves no margin for officiating mistakes that could directly shape teams’ campaigns.
The club had already contacted the FPF on Friday over the clássico at Vila Belmiro, with president Osmar Stabile speaking to federation president Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos. Days later referee Lucas Canetto Bellote was stood down after the federation deemed his award of a foul incorrect. Bellote had penalised Gustavo Henrique for a challenge on Lautaro Díaz at the edge of the area, a call that preceded Gabriel Barbosa’s equaliser.
The club also condemned Flávio Rodrigues Marques’ display in Rio Claro against Velo Clube. They cited inconsistent foul criteria, a penalty not given for André Ramalho after an alleged elbow by Betão on 25 minutes, and the failure to dismiss Ynaiã for a stamp on Vitinho’s knee.
Corinthians will gauge any shift in officiating on 5 February against Capivariano at Neo Química Arena at 20:30 in round six. Before then they face Bahia on Thursday at Vila Belmiro at 20:00 in their Campeonato Brasileiro opener, then Flamengo on Sunday at 16:00 in the Supercopa do Brasil at Mané Garrincha.
