Corinthians drew 0-0 with Palmeiras on Sunday at Neo Química Arena in the 11th-round derby, extending their Campeonato Brasileiro drought to eight games. It is their longest winless league sequence since 2024.

According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz replaced Dorival Júnior after a recent slump. He ended the all-competitions skid by beating Platense in the Libertadores, though the league run remains intact.

In 2024, Antônio Oliveira’s side went nine without a win, starting on 11 May with a 0-0 draw against Fortaleza at home in round five. Defeats by Flamengo and Botafogo were followed by draws with Atlético-GO and São Paulo, then a loss to Internacional, points against Athletico-PR and Cuiabá, and a 1 July defeat to Palmeiras that led to the Portuguese coach’s exit. Interim Raphael Laruccia ended that drought with a 3-2 win over Vitória.

This season’s run began with a 1-1 draw with Cruzeiro on 25 February in round four, then a loss to Coritiba. Corinthians then drew with Santos, Chapecoense and Flamengo, lost to Fluminense and Internacional, and drew again with Palmeiras. Before this spell, they lost to Bahia on opening day and beat Red Bull Bragantino and Athletico-PR.

Dorival Júnior was dismissed after the 1-0 home defeat to Internacional at Neo Química Arena, having gone nine matches without a win in any competition. The next chance to stop the league run comes away to Vitória at Barradão on Saturday, 18 April. Corinthians sit 16th on 11 points, one place and one point above the relegation zone.
