Corinthians took advantage of one of their only chances to complete a surprise victory over Gotham FC and book a place in the Champions Cup final.

The only goal of the match was scored by veteran Gabi Zanotti with Corinthians set to face either Arsenal and AS FAR, in the first ever Fifa Women's Club World Cup final on Sunday.

The first 45 minutes were quite even, with the NWSL side having more possession and creating the first chance in the opening minutes.

The Brazilian team had moments though with one coming from Andressa Alves, who shot from outside the box in the 20th minute and was blocked at the last moment by England international Jess Carter, who threw herself at the ball to prevent what would have been the first goal of the game.

After the break, Gotham continued to control the match as Corinthians struggled to keep the ball and it seemed like the North American side would score sooner rather than later.

However, in the 83rd minute, former Birmingham City and Manchester United forward, Ivana Fuso, led a counter-attack on the right side, Tamires crossed and the ball fell to Gabi Zanotti who struck with her left foot into the corner beyond another former WSL star, Ann-Katrin Berger.

From then on, it was total pressure from Gotham but they couldn't find a way through and suffered a surprise defeat to the Brazilian side.
