Costa Rica, Mexico meet in battle for first place in Group A

MIAMI – The Final Round of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers continues on Wednesday with the second set of matches in Groups A and C, as 12 nationals teams compete for the four available spots in the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2025.
Group A
Bermuda vs. Haiti
The first match of the day sees Bermuda face Haiti at Mini Estadio de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol in Toluca, Mexico.
Bermuda will look to bounce back after falling against Mexico in its opening match. The Caribbean nation is currently in its third appearance in the Final Round and is in search of advancing to the World Cup for the first time.
Haiti will look to collect its first points after falling to defeat against Costa Rica on Monday. Les Grenadières qualified directly to the decisive stage of the Qualifiers as one of the four top-ranked teams that received a bye to the Final Round. The nation is in search of a historic first-ever qualification to a FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Costa Rica vs. Mexico
The second Group A encounter of the day presents a battle for first place between Costa Rica and Mexico at Mini Estadio de la Federación Mexicana de Fútbol in Toluca, Mexico.
Costa Rica enters the match leading the group by goal differential after its 8-nil win against Haiti. Las Ticas were led to victory by six different goal scorers, with Lucia Paniagua stealing the spotlight with a stellar performance. Paniagua finished the game with a notable three goals and an assist.
Mexico defeated Bermuda 5-nil and will be in search of overtaking Costa Rica for the top spot in the group. El Tricolor claimed the three points in a win that saw five different players get their names onto the scoresheet: Citlalli Reyes, Joselyn Solis, Anaiya Miyazato, Valeria Vásquez and Mia Villalpando.
Group C
Honduras vs. United States
Group C action resumes on Wednesday with Honduras facing the United States at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
Honduras is coming off a 1-1 draw against El Salvador. Jazlyn Sanchez secured the point for Las Catrachas with the equalizer in the 61’ of the match.
The United States won 3-nil against Trinidad and Tobago and currently sits first in Group C. Second half goals from Ashlyn Anderson, Micayla Johnson and Chloe Sadler secured the result for USA.
Trinidad and Tobago vs. El Salvador
The final match of the day will see Trinidad and Tobago face El Salvador at States at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago.
Trinidad and Tobago will seek its first points after falling against USA. The Soca Warriors are currently in their fifth appearance in the Final Round and will aim to return to the U-17 Women’s World Cup after making a historic debut in the competition in 2010.
El Salvador enters the match with a point after drawing against Honduras in its opening match. Maya Buerger scored La Selecta’s goal in the match.
