The Sky Blues will return to the Premier League after a 25 year absence following their impressive campaign.

Frank Lampard has overseen a first place finish in the second division with one game still to play.

Work will now begin on building a team capable of survival in the Premier League, as Coventry look to establish themselves at that level long-term.

It will no doubt be a busy summer at the CBS Arena, with a number of potential incomings on the horizon.

Coventry will be looking to replicate Leeds United and Sunderland’s seasons, with the pair earning their safety after gaining promotion last year, while Burnley have officially been relegated back to the Championship.

According to Teamtalk, defender Kevin Mac Allister is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs this summer, including Coventry.

It’s understood that the Sky Blues are monitoring the Argentine’s future following his impressive performances for Union Saint-Gilloise.

The older brother of Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister could be set for a move to English football, but Lampard faces competition in the race for his signature.

Leeds, Brentford and Fulham are also believed to be in the race to add the 28-year-old to their squad in the upcoming transfer market.

Brighton have also been linked with the centre-back, with the Seagulls sharing a connection to the Belgian outfit through owner Tony Bloom, who is now a minority shareholder since 2023 due to UEFA rules on dual ownership, having held a majority control since 2018 prior to that.

Mac Allister is in his third season with Saint-Gilloise, and he had featured in all 30 of their league games so far this season, with his team sitting top of the Pro League table.

The South American, aside from his defensive skill-set, has contributed one goal and one assist, earning praise for his all-round performances and leading to speculation over his future.

Mac Allister could also be in line to receive a call-up to the Argentina national team for the World Cup this summer, which could further complicate the situation, having been capped once already in 2025.

The 28-year-old has a contract with Saint-Gilloise until June 2027, but the club have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Kevin Mac Allister signing has potential for Coventry City - if they can fend off Premier League competition

Mac Allister’s reputation is going from strength to strength this season, and the chance to move to English football could be quite tempting.

Brighton have an obvious connection to the defender through Bloom’s ownership of Saint-Gilloise, as well as the fact his younger brother Alexis used to play for the Seagulls.

But Coventry are a club on the rise, and they will be an enticing prospect for a player like Mac Allister, particularly with Lampard in charge.

It will be a test of the Sky Blues’ willingness to spend if they’re competing with four rivals to this signing, but it could prove a smart piece of business if they could get it over the line.
