Inter Miami on Monday confirmed two friendlies in Riyadh early next year, facing Al Hilal on 29 January then Al Nassr on 1 February at Kingdom Arena, setting up another Lionel Messi meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Miami had already flagged a game against Al Nassr in Riyadh without a date, which is now fixed. The club described the fixtures as important tests before the new MLS season.

After the Saudi Arabia matches, Miami will travel to Hong Kong to face a selection from the territory’s First Division on 4 February. The team then returns to the United States for the league kick-off later in February.

Messi and Ronaldo last met earlier this year in a friendly between Ronaldo’s Saudi Arabian League All Stars and Messi’s former club Paris Saint-Germain, which the French champions won 5-4. Ronaldo scored twice.

On Monday Ronaldo netted his 50th goal of 2023 in Al Nassr’s 5-2 Saudi King Cup win over rivals Al Shabab in Riyadh, finishing right-footed from close range in the 74th minute. He marked the milestone on Instagram, expressing delight and thanking team-mates, fans and family, adding there is room for a few more this year.

Since joining Al Nassr at the end of last year, the 38-year-old has averaged nearly a goal a game. He has also scored 10 times for Portugal in nine matches in 2023.
