It only took him until he was 41-years-old, but Cristiano Ronaldo has finally broken his duck in the World Cup knockout rounds.Â
The veteran superstar was ice cold when Portugal needed him to rescue them and pull level with Croatia this evening in Toronto.
After Ivan PeriĆĄiÄ put Croatia ahead in the second-half, Portugal were given the chance they desperately craved after being awarded a spot-kick before the second-half hydration break.Â
Up stepped the main man, Ronaldo, to fire home and level the scoreline, but more importantly, he broke the long-running curse of never having scored in a World Cup knockout match for his country.
It's a remarkable stat considering his prolific goalscoring record over more than a 20-year career at the top level.Â
You surely wouldn't bet against him to go on and add to his tally from here either.Â
