Cristiano Ronaldo has turned down the chance to play at the upcoming Fifa Club World Cup after receiving transfer offers from participating clubs.

Gianni Infantino, the president of world football’s governing body, suggested earlier this year that the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star could feature at the tournament after Al-Nassr failed to qualify.

But Ronaldo confirmed that he won’t be playing in the new 32-team competition, which takes place in the United States.

“I will not be at the Club World Cup,” he said ahead of Portugal’s Uefa Nations League final against Spain on Sunday evening in Munich.

“Some teams reached out to me. Some made sense and others did not, but you can’t try and do everything. You can’t catch every ball.”

With his current contract expiring later this month, Ronaldo’s future with the Saudi Pro League outfit remains unclear.

Following Al-Nassr’s final league game of the season in May, the forward posted “this chapter is over” on social media.

Ronaldo has been linked with a return to Sporting Clube de Portugal, where he started his career, but reports suggest he could sign a new deal with the club he joined from United in 2023.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner revealed that a decision on his future was “almost final”.
