Vasco defeated Grêmio 2-1 in the Brasileiro, with left-back Cuiabano again the standout. He now has five goal involvements in his last four matches, one goal and four assists.
His surge has come under Renato Gaúcho and, according to PaponaColina, members of Brazil’s coaching staff have watched him in person of late. They are mapping younger options for the cycle after this year's World Cup, not for immediate selection.
Cuiabano fashioned the opener, initially celebrating it as his, before it was awarded to Thiago Mendes after a deflection off the midfielder’s torso. He then supplied David for Vasco’s second.
Against his boyhood club the defender has three goals and two assists in four meetings. He also struck three times in three games versus Grêmio while at Botafogo in 2023 and 2024.
The 23-year-old arrived in Rio in January on loan from Nottingham Forest, who play in England’s first division. Early fitness issues limited his minutes, but a tailored programme has transformed his readiness.
Regular domestic scouting is routine for the confederation. Cuiabano is enjoying his longest run as an undisputed starter at Vasco, his camp having been told of official monitoring and his inclusion among potential future call-ups.
