Nick Cushing says he's seen enough in City's League Cup final defeat to know we can present a real challenge to Chelsea in our upcoming fixtures.
City had deservedly levelled just after the hour when Aoba Fujino fired home to cancel out Mayra Ramirez's early strike.
However, an own goal from Yui Hasegawa sealed City's fate in cruel circumstances, despite dominating large parts of the game.
Cushing felt the fine margins that often come in finals simply didn't fall his team's way, but he's confident his side can recover.
Speaking after the League Cup final defeat, he said: "I want this team to be a threat and to believe that it can be a threat, however the game goes. I hope you could see that.
"I thought we had multiple moments in their box, put them under pressure many times, I think at half-time it was six corners to zero.
"We had real belief we could get back into the game and had huge chances.
"It’s tough, these finals always swing on moments, this one fell to Chelsea but I’ve seen enough to know we can be competitive in the next three games.
"I believe this team can win, I wouldn't be here if I didn’t. You have to move on."
Our Interim Head Coach also provided an update on the condition of Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw, who was brought off late on.
Cushing revealed that the Jamaican had felt her hamstring at Pride Park, but said it was too early to make a full assessment at this stage.
"She did take a clattering. She’s feeling her hamstring," he added.
"We’ll take a look at her and she’s a really important player for us.
"Hopefully she’s ready [for Wednesday's game], if not we’ll find a solution."
