DANI CARVAJAL will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season after 23 seasons with the club. The club said in a statement that the Santiago Bernabéu will pay tribute to their captain at the final league match.
The right-back will bid farewell at the Bernabéu in what will be his last appearance in white. He has featured little over the past two campaigns due to injuries and his contract expires this summer. Madrid extended his deal two years ago following a serious knee injury.
Across those two seasons he did not reach 2,000 minutes. The arrival of Trent this summer was aimed at reinforcing the position, but Madrid will now look to the market again. His relationship with Arbeloa deteriorated this year, and many criticised the coach for the limited chances afforded to the captain.
Carvajal has spent 10 seasons in the academy and 13 with the first team, playing 450 games and scoring 14 goals. He has won 27 trophies, among them six European Cups, six Club World Cups, five European Super Cups, four La Ligas, two Copas del Rey and four Spanish Super Cups.
Individually, he made the FIFPRO World 11 in 2024, was named in The Best FIFA Men’s World XI 2024, and was player of the match in the 2024 Champions League final, where he scored. He has 51 caps for Spain and won Euro 2024 and the 2023 Nations League. He lifted his sixth European title as captain at Wembley.
