Benfica are preparing a new deal for Daniel Banjaqui, with negotiations progressing, according to Correio da Manhã, despite Barcelona monitoring the 17-year-old right back.

The academy product is seen as one of Seixal’s standout prospects. He is under contract until June 2027.

Banjaqui helped Portugal win the under-17 World Cup and has already featured for the first team. José Mourinho handed him his debut against Farense in the Taça de Portugal.

Mourinho has praised the youngster and values his technical qualities, seeing significant potential in the defender.

This season he has made 15 appearances, seven in the Segunda Liga, four in the Youth League, three in the Liga Revelação and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 838 minutes he has scored one goal. He is valued at one million euros.
