Daniel Farke says Leeds United will aim to be savvier in how they appeal decisions after feeling aggrieved by late calls in their FA Cup quarter-final win.
According to Leeds Live, he was adamant they should have had a first-half penalty when Anton Stach was challenged late by Max Kilman, and he was irked that Axel Disasi’s stoppage-time equaliser for West Ham United was not ruled out for a high boot. Disasi’s strike completed a two-goal stoppage-time comeback.
Farke believed that if covering defender Pascal Struijk had gone down and made more of the incident, the goal would definitely have been disallowed, though he stopped short of telling his players to feign injury.
He argued that a boot at head height should have invalidated the goal, yet accepted officiating was not the only factor, adding that Leeds could have managed the closing stages better and exerted more control.
Anton Stach is one of three players ruled out of Monday’s trip to Manchester United after sustaining ligament damage in Kilman’s tackle. Like Joe Rodon, who has an ankle injury, he is expected to miss the rest of April, while Daniel James faces a few weeks out with an adductor problem.
Gabriel Gudmundsson has a groin issue, Jaka Bijol a knock and Noah Okafor a back problem, and all are doubts for Old Trafford.
