Flamengo are keen on Botafogo standout Danilo, who is looking to depart in the next transfer window amid turbulence on and off the pitch.
According to GE, his main aim is a return to Europe, and potential World Cup involvement could smooth that move. In Brazil, Palmeiras would come first if Europe does not happen, with Flamengo seen as a distant option out of respect for Botafogo.
Botafogo have set an asking price of 40 million euros, about R$ 231.2 million at current rates. The club expect his valuation to rise with a World Cup call-up.
Danilo has been Botafogo’s standout in 2026, scoring nine and supplying three assists in 21 appearances. He is the club’s top scorer despite operating in central midfield.
Palmeiras, Fulham and Zenit are also pursuing him alongside Flamengo. There have been no formal bids, with the window opening on 20 July.
Flamengo face Independiente Medellín at 21:30 Brasília time on Thursday 7 at Estadio Atanasio Girardot in the fourth round of the Libertadores.
