The Telegraph reports that Danny Imray is closing in on a £5million move to Wrexham from Crystal Palace.

West Brom had targeted the right-back after an impressive loan in the second half of last season. The Eagles academy graduate turns 23 on Monday and now looks set for a permanent exit from Selhurst Park.

After a shaky start he excelled at The Hawthorns, becoming pivotal in the Championship survival push under James Morrison. He made 16 league appearances in that spell.

Morrison wanted him back and Albion monitored his situation. Asked after Saturday’s 4-1 friendly win at Shrewsbury, the head coach declined to discuss a player at another club.

Imray has featured in Palace’s pre-season as he aimed to impress new Eagles boss Pierre Sage.

Wrexham, led by Phil Parkinson, finished one place and two points outside the play-offs in their first Championship season after three successive promotions.

Meanwhile Albion’s move for French right-back Nolan Galvez, 23, has gathered pace after his standout year with Rodez in the second tier in France. The club are working on a deal, with Southampton also interested and other English sides linked earlier in the summer.

Returning left-back Conor Townsend, 33, became Albion’s fifth signing of the summer on Friday night, sealing a Hawthorns return after two years away.
