According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco will officially announce the signing of Barcelona forward Ansu Fati on Tuesday, July 1.

After weeks of speculation, everything is now in place for the young Spanish striker to leave the Camp Nou.

Ansu has signed all the necessary documents and completed his medical tests, clearing the final hurdles before his loan move to Monaco for the upcoming season.

The agreement between Barcelona and Monaco is total, and both clubs are expected to confirm the deal next week.

End of an era

Ansu’s exit marks the end of his time at Barça, at least for now. The move comes after Barcelona told the player he would not get minutes next season, especially under new coach Hansi Flick, who made it clear he does not count on him.

This follows a difficult past season where Ansu barely played since December, leading him to accept the idea of leaving in search of regular football.

Negotiations between Barcelona and Monaco were far from easy. Barcelona hoped to offload Ansu’s entire salary, which stands at around €12 million gross per season.

However, Monaco only agreed to cover 60% of his wages. Barça also tried to push for a better financial deal or convince Ansu to give up part of his salary, but those efforts didn’t succeed.

Player also wanted to move

Ansu made it clear he wanted to have a say in his next destination. Once he received Monaco’s offer, he focused solely on joining the French club, which pressured Barça to close the deal.

The agreement includes a one-season loan with an option for Monaco to buy Ansu permanently for around €11 million.

However, it seems Barcelona will not have a buy-back clause but will keep a significant percentage of Ansu’s economic rights if Monaco decides to sell him in the future.

With the move now finalised, Ansu will try to revive his career in Ligue 1. But if he performs well, it looks unlikely he will return to Barcelona, making this transfer a potentially permanent farewell to the club where he once shone as one of its brightest young talents.
