Bologna FC 1909 can announce that Davide Calabria has joined the Club from AC Milan on loan until 30 June 2025.
The organised and driven 1996-born right-back joins us for his first experience away from AC Milan after 11 seasons in the First Team: Davide has great dynamism, speed (especially over distance), tactical sense and resistance. Brought into the senior side by Inzaghi and Mihajlovic more than 10 years ago after his successes at youth level, he progressively matured after turning 21 to pick up between 30 and 40 appearances per season, proving to be one of the most consistent and reliable players in his position on a national level. Between 2020 and 2022, he frequented Coverciano under Coach Maldini (7 games for the senior Italy side after 19 appearances in the U21s), Meanwhile for Milan, he debuted in the Europa League and Champions League, became captain of the side, picked up the full faith of Stefano Pioli after the years under Brocchi, Montella, Gattuso and Giampaolo, often favoured over teammates Abate and Conti.
Calabria’s real exploit came in the 2020/21 season as his performances grew – capable of breaking down opposition play, diligently marking and with skill on long balls – as he became a pillar of the AC Milan side that returned to the Champions League after several years and went on the win the Scudetto the following season (Davide played 26 games and scored twice). Pioli’s five-year run came to an end and under Fonseca and Conceicao this season, 2024/25, he has played seven times in the league, once in the Coppa Italia when he also scored against Sassuolo, five Champions League games and once in the Supercoppa Italiana – in the final won by Milan.
