Manchester United shared the spoils against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils went into the game on the back of scoring ten goals against Southampton and Barnsley.

They had a dominant first half against the Eagles but were unable to capitalise on the advantage.

Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes hit the woodwork in quick succession, while Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson made several fantastic saves.

The second half was more evenly fought, and United could have easily lost the game. Andre Onana pulled off a tremendous double save.

Despite the disappointing goalless draw, there were some positives to carry forward from Selhurst Park.

United kept their fourth sheet of the season. Onana played a big role with his double stop, but Matthijs de Ligt was equally good with his aerial presence.

The Netherlands international won four out of six aerial duels contested. He had 91 touches in the game and a passing accuracy of more than 94 percent.

He had three shots on target and should have scored from a Christian Eriksen corner in the first half. The Dutchman lost possession on just five occasions.

United’s Achilles heel last season was their defensive record, but there has been a good improvement in that aspect with De Ligt’s presence in the back four.

The former Bayern Munich star has won most of his duels and has also impressed with his distribution. He has also provided a set-piece threat for United.

He will only improve with more training sessions with the first-team squad.
