The summer transfer window, for much of Europe, came to an end yesterday as Arsenal completed crucial deals before the deadline. The transfer window had largely revolved around incomings for the Gunners, signing eight players and spending close to €300 million in the process. In fact, the club ended the transfer period as the third highest spenders in Europe, behind Chelsea and Liverpool. Heading towards the deadline, the futures of some fringe players were still undecided and they faced the prospect of remaining at the club beyond the summer. Nonetheless, a solution was found rather quickly on deadline day as a number of players secured moves away.
Five players completed deadline day moves away, while Arsenal welcomed Piero Hincapié to the club. Fabio Vieira and Albert Sambi Lokonga both joined Hamburger SV, with the latter joining on a permanent deal believed to be around £10 million. Vieira joined the Germans on loan with an option to buy for €20 million. Reiss Nelson was another name on the move, with Brentford completing his signing on loan. Perhaps the most surprising transfer was that of Oleksandr Zinchenko. Nottingham Forest completed the shock transfer on loan after their deal for Javi Galan fell through. Following the announcement of the Piero Hincapié deal, Jakub Kiwior’s move to FC Porto followed suit. The Poland international will join on an initial loan, with an obligation to buy. Arsenal will receive an initial loan fee of €2 million, while the total package could rise up to €26 million.

Following a successful transfer window, it will be all hands on deck for the Gunners as they aim for silverware this campaign. Quality and depth have been added to the squad across multiple positions, making sure Arsenal head into a gruelling season prepared.
With the transfer window now officially closed, what would you rate our transfer business on a scale of 1-10? I would give it a solid 8, how about you Gooners?
