West Ham have signed Axel Disasi on a deadline-day loan from Chelsea, a move that sharpens relegation stakes for Leeds United and Nottingham Forest.
The French international has not played since April 2025 and joins until the summer. The Guardian reports he needed persuading, with his medical rescheduled before the deal was confirmed beyond the seven pm deadline.
West Ham are 18th after a 3-2 defeat at Chelsea, despite leading 2-0 at half-time and being level into the 92nd minute. They are six points behind Forest and Leeds, who meet at Elland Road on Friday.
Disasi said he came for an exciting challenge and to help put the club back where it should be. He wants to bring personality and character on and off the pitch.
West Ham hope to have him available for Saturday’s trip to 19th-placed Burnley. They will be without Jean-Clair Todibo for three games after his red card at Chelsea, leaving only Dino Mavropanos and the unfancied Max Kilman.
Nuno Espirito Santo sees Turf Moor as close to a must-win, with no other bottom-eight opponent until Wolves in mid-April, and his side will know Friday’s Elland Road result before kick-off. Leeds lost 4-0 to Arsenal on Saturday, their first home defeat since late November, and Daniel Farke wants a swift response to keep at least a six-point cushion.
