FC Bayern has made a move for a talent from its own campus this winter: Magnus Dalpiaz is leaving the record champions temporarily to gain international playing experience in a top league.

The 18-year-old right-back is moving to AC Milan on loan. According to information from Fabrizio Romano, the Italians have secured an option to buy. At the same time, FC Bayern Munich has also agreed a contractually fixed counter-option in order to retain control over the player’s sporting future.

Dalpiaz was recently one of the most noticeable players in Munich’s youth academy, but only played a subordinate role in the professional squad. Against the backdrop of internal planning on the right side of defence, those responsible deliberately opted for a loan abroad in order to give the defender consistent playing time at a high level.

The agreed model is long-term, giving Milan the opportunity to develop Dalpiaz in a professional environment over several months without having to make a final decision immediately. Thanks to the counter-option, Munich remain free to act at any time should the youngster make a lasting impression in Serie A.

Bayern have not written Dalpiaz off

The deal was accompanied by advisors Tommaso Inzaghi and Benjamin Dorgathen. For the Rossoneri, the focus is less on the short-term sporting effect and more on the gradual introduction of a young player to professional soccer.

FC Bayern’s desire not to lose sight of the full-back was already evident in the spring of 2025, when the club extended Dalpiaz’s contract ahead of schedule – a clear sign of trust. A permanent separation was never on the cards; instead, the 18-year-old is to mature through external match practice.

Campus manager Markus Weinzierl was clear about this extension: „Magnus is a top full-back who also has a goal threat. We believe in his great potential and are delighted that we were able to convince him to continue on our path together.“ He added: „We are very excited about the next steps in his development.“
