Carl Rushworth kept Coventry City in control in the 59th minute with a fingertip save to the top right, underpinning a 2-0 win at Bristol City.

That stop, from a rising Scott Twine effort bound for the angle, arrived amid sustained pressure and set the tone for a steely second half.

He then got down smartly to his right to claw away Max Bird's drive (69.). Moments later he beat out George Tanner's strike from range (70.). Twine was denied again from distance (79.). In the third minute of second half stoppage time, Rushworth clawed out another Twine effort to preserve the clean sheet.

He finished with six saves and two high claims, calming his area against The Robins' barrage of 40 crosses and 11 corners. City also produced 24 attempts, but Rushworth's positioning and handling kept Coventry organised when the box was loaded.

Because the hosts funnelled attacks wide and kept serving aerial balls, his decision-making under the high ball and firm shot stopping ensured Coventry controlled the key phases.

Coventry City stay top of the Championship on 74 points and host Preston North End next. The Robins visit Leicester City next.
