Deives thanks fans, hails young talent, wants more LNF games

In a decisive match for the National Futsal League (LNF), Corinthians defeated their great rival Magnus Sorocaba and took the lead in the race for a spot in the semifinals. Idol Deives spoke about the presence of the fans at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium and praised the performance of Luisinho, who scored two goals.

“I want to thank the fans who showed up. We know, from our time here, that when we have our fans by our side and in these numbers, with this energy like today, it’s very hard for us to be beaten at home. And these are the days we carry with us for the rest of our lives.” said the captain and number 10 of Corinthians Futsal.

“A victory, an incredible party, and above all, the commitment of our team, understanding the magnitude of the match, understanding what the game required. But I have to thank the fans so much, especially for me, as I’m going through a very emotional moment, it’s a gift I receive, and I want to congratulate our group, our coaching staff for their effort, and of course, start thinking about Tuesday’s game in Sorocaba, and call on the Fiel Sorocaba, the Fiel from the whole region.” he added.

With this result, Corinthians only need a draw in the return match to secure qualification for the next phase. This is Deives’ last season as a professional futsal player, and there’s a movement to make his farewell memorable with a third LNF title in the club’s history.

Another point Deives commented on was the passing of the ‘crown’ to Luisinho, Corinthians’ main prospect at the moment. As mentioned, he was the standout of the match with two goals, which technically gave Timão the advantage, as the game ended 4-2.

“Luisinho is one of the prospects we have in our project, just like Maicon, just like Lucas Martins was and now is a reality—one of the top scorers in the competition. We’ve been trying to help our young players a lot so that they truly understand where they’re stepping, the shirt they’re wearing. And today, Luisinho decided a game of enormous importance, with two goals.” said Deives.

With the possibility of qualification or elimination, Deives may have played his last National League match at Wlamir Marques. He spoke about the emotion of the end of his career and reaffirmed the feeling of making history inside the gymnasium.

“When you’re living this final stretch, you never know when your last game will be, and I honestly confess, from the heart, that everything is still open, qualification is open, but if this was my last National League game here, I’ll cherish today’s match, because what we experienced here today reminded me a lot of the history that was created in the past.”

The decisive qualifying match will take place next Tuesday (11th), at Arena Sorocaba, home of Magnus Futsal. According to the rules, a draw is enough to qualify Corinthians for the semifinals, but a loss takes the match to extra time, where Timão would need a win in overtime.
