Inter Milan said in a statement on Tuesday that Denzel Dumfries has undergone surgery to stabilise his left ankle, extending his absence.
The Netherlands international has not featured since the 2-0 win over Lazio in early November. He has 69 caps.

Rehabilitation will begin in the coming weeks, and there is no date set for his return.
Dumfries has been out of the squad because of the ankle problem.
Romanian coach Cristian Chivu will continue to rely on Carlos Augusto and former Marseille player Luis Henrique on the right.
