Former Argentina international Ángel Di María was targeted by River Plate fans during Rosario Central’s defeat, prompting a public defence from his wife, Jorgelina Cardoso. According to Glorioso 1904, she addressed the abuse in a social media post after the match.
Cardoso said it made her happy to know he had nothing in common with those spreading bitterness and hate, adding that they live sadly. She highlighted their humility, family happiness and enjoyment of their city and people.
She expressed pride in Di María and drew a clear contrast with the crowd she criticised, before thanking him for his constant support. Her post drew numerous reactions.
Di María replied to the message, thanking her for standing by him and saying they remain together in pursuit of more dreams.
Di María left Benfica in summer 2025 to return to Rosario Central. In the coming weeks, compatriot Nicolás Otamendi could strengthen River Plate.
