Manchester United were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at Nottingham Forest after Amad Diallo’s 81st-minute volley earned the visitors a share of the spoils at the City Ground.
The hosts started brightly, with Dan Ndoye testing United keeper Senne Lammens in the eighth minute with a long-range strike that was tipped over the bar.
United gradually grew into the game, and Diallo had a long-range effort saved by Matz Sels. Casemiro eventually broke the deadlock on 33 minutes, heading in a Fernandes corner at the far post to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at the interval.
Forest responded immediately after the restart. Morgan Gibbs-White headed in Ryan Yates’ cross just minutes into the second period to level the match.
Moments later, Nicolò Savona gave the hosts the lead, finishing from close range after Igor Jesus’ deflected header fell into the six-yard box.
United struggled to regain control, with Bruno Fernandes hitting the base of the post on the hour mark before Casemiro’s rebound went wide.
Forest had further chances, including an Igor Jesus header that rattled the side netting and a Hudson-Odoi long-range strike that narrowly missed.
In the 81st minute, Amad Diallo finally restored parity. The winger struck a first-time volley from the edge of the box after a looping clearance fell kindly to him, sending the ball past Sels.
Deep into stoppage time, Amad went close again, but Forest defender Murillo cleared his shot off the line.
With this result, Ruben Amorim's side will sit fifth in the table with 17 points, while Sean Dyche's men will remain in relegation zone with six points.
