Didier Deschamps was full of praise for a “radiant” Michael Olise (24) after the Bayern Munich forward netted a hat-trick against Northern Ireland in France’s final FIFA World Cup warm-up game.
At club level, Olise has had an exceptional campaign, registering 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 games in all competitions. Including games with Les Bleus, he is now on 60 goal contributions after he netted a hat-trick in France’s 3-0 win in Lille on Monday night.
Speaking in a post-match press conference attended by Get French Football News, Deschamps was full of praise for Olise. “He is radiant through the season he has had at Bayern and with us as well. He is full of confidence. He is so decisive,” began the France manager.
He continued, “He is also capable of making quite an incredible effort. We will need Michael at that level (at the World Cup) and others, too. Well done to him. He came to us after a very good Olympic Games. It took a bit of time, four or five matches for him to free himself, because, and I’m not teaching you anything, he is quite an introverted character. But he is very endearing. We are trying to guide him through discussions. He is standing on his own two feet; he has done everything to get to this level.”
