France national team manager Didier Deschamps has revealed that he’ll announce his squad for the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday 13 May. This Thursday, Deschamps lifted the lid on the 26-players squad that will fly out to America for Les Bleus’ US Tour. France will face Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil at Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium on Thursday 26 March. Then, France will play Colombia at Landover’s Northwest Stadium on Sunday 29 March.

Deschamps explained part of his rationale when building his squad for the 2026 World Cup, in which Les Bleus have been drawn to face Senegal, Norway and an intercontinental playoff winner. Deschamps has not confirmed whether or not he’ll call up 26 players for the World Cup, although he did so for this month’s US tour.

The two-time World Cup winner says that he wants all positions on the pitch to be possibly covered three times within the squad, where the emphasis lies on versatility, which means that midfielders Warren Zaïre-Emery and Eduardo Camavinga have a high chance of boarding the plane to America next June given they can provide cover as full-backs.

Given Deschamps will leave his post after the World Cup, this will be the last-ever squad selection of his 14-year tenure.
