Diniz said Corinthians must halt their inconsistency as their Brasileiro form stutters, with the side 17th on 18 points from 16 rounds.

As reported by Meu Timao, he has spent a little over a month trying to instil his style while juggling the Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores, and he spoke after Thursday’s draw with Peñarol.

He admitted that if he knew the solution he would have fixed it already, stressing the need to stop oscillating. He noted that home form has improved and that the team are producing well in both the Libertadores and the league.

In the Brasileiro under Diniz it is six matches, two wins, two draws and two defeats, a 44.44% return. An away victory has not yet arrived.

Assessing trips, he pointed to different causes, citing the Botafogo game for a dip in intensity and avoidable goals. He said the focus now turns to Atlético Mineiro, calling it a decisive test, and added they must see whether the side have the energy to perform and try to climb the table.

All his league wins have come at Neo Química Arena, against Vasco and São Paulo, plus a draw with Palmeiras in a derby featuring two Corinthians red cards, underlining their strength at home.

Corinthians host Atlético Mineiro on Sunday at 18:30 in the 17th round. A win could take them out of the relegation zone, depending on other results.
