Diogo Jota’s children, Dinis and Duarte, are expected to walk out at Anfield before Liverpool face Wolverhampton at 16:00 on Saturday. According to The Times, the appearance forms part of a tribute nearly six months after the forward’s death.

The pair are expected to accompany the mascots as Liverpool and Wolverhampton, the two former clubs of their father, meet in the Premier League.

It will be the first meeting between the sides since the Portugal international died in a car accident on 3 July in north-west Spain while travelling to Liverpool for pre-season. His brother, André Silva, also died in the crash.

Jota’s death came only days after the 28-year-old married his long-time partner, prompting an outpouring of grief and tributes across the football community.

Liverpool subsequently retired the number 20 shirt he had worn since joining, a move intended to preserve his legacy at the club.
