A recent report from MARCA reveals that there seems to be a disagreement within the Real Madrid coaching staff regarding Arda Guler’s playing time.

The divide appears to be between assistant coach Davide Ancelotti and manager Carlo Ancelotti. Davide is reportedly in favour of making Guler a regular starter, while Carlo remains unconvinced.

This internal debate highlights the uncertainty within the club over Guler’s role and how best to utilise him. Despite his potential, there are doubts about where he fits into the team.

Struggling for minutes

In the limited opportunities Guler has had on the pitch, he has yet to make a significant impact. His performances in the two matches he started have been underwhelming, lacking the spark expected from a player of his calibre.

This has only added to the confusion surrounding how and when he should be deployed within the squad.

Guler is regarded as a national hero in Turkey, but his transition to a club as prestigious as Real Madrid has not been smooth. The lack of consistent playing time has sparked speculation among fans and pundits.

Some suggest that Carlo Ancelotti might not be handling Guler’s development in the most effective way, while others point to the fierce competition within the squad as the main reason for the midfielder’s struggles.

Not the case with Turkey

The young talent’s standout performances for the Turkish national team have further fuelled the conversation, leading many to question why he is not given more minutes at club level.

Given Real Madrid’s limited options in midfield, it was widely expected that Guler would play a more prominent role this season.

However, this has not materialised. So far, he has accumulated only 291 minutes across ten appearances in various competitions, including the UEFA Super Cup, La Liga, and the Champions League.

This is notably fewer than the minutes he has played for Turkey in the Nations League, raising questions about his future at the club and how he can earn more playing time.
