Manchester United Women had numerous representatives in action yesterday during the Women’s Euro 2025 tournament.
Dominique Janssen started for the Netherlands as they eased to an opening 3-0 win versus Wales in group D.
The 30 year old played the entire 90 minutes and started as a centre back for her side.
She helped them keep a clean sheet and made three clearances. She also completed four tackles as she was solid defensively.
The United star won six ground duels and two aerial battles against the Welsh forwards.
Janssen was also controlled on the ball, having 95 touches and maintained an 88% passing accuracy for the match. One of her passes was also deemed to be a key one as she enjoyed a strong start to the Euros.
Melvine Malard was also on the winning side, as she came off the bench for France in their 2-1 win over England.
She played 28 minutes and had a pass accuracy of 83%. She was unable to affect the game much in an attacking sense, failing to have any shots on goal, however.
Malard did contribute defensively though, winning two ground duels and an aerial battle as she helped her side hang on to victory.
Ella Toone also came off the bench in the 60th minute with her England side trailing 0-2.
She uncharacteristically had little influence on the game though as she only had 11 touches and made four passes.
Toone did have two efforts on goal but they were both blocked by a resolute French defence.
The United star was also unable to be effective in her defensive work, losing all of the ground and aerial battles she was involved in.
Finally, Grace Clinton came off the bench too for England in the 77th minute.
She pushed to find a goal with an effort blocked and one that flew off target but she could not find a way through.
United captain Maya Le Tissier was an unused substitute for the Lionesses.
