Football League World's Bolton Wanderers fan pundit shares his opinion as Ian Evatt's side eye a move for Charlton Athletic midfielder Terry Taylor
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Bolton Wanderers, as well as Scottish Premiership side Dundee FC, are targeting a loan move for Charlton Athletic midfielder Terry Taylor.
That's according to journalist Pete O'Rourke, who claims that the out of favour Addicks man could either get a move north of the border, or to one of his current club's divisional rivals.
The 23-year-old has struggled for game time under Nathan Jones this season, making just eight appearances in League One, but he previously impressed with former club Burton Albion, for whom he made 26 third tier outings back in 2022/23.
Amid Wanderers' interest in Taylor, Football League World asked our Bolton fan pundit, Liam O'Meara, his thoughts regarding a potential move, and if midfield is still a priority for Ian Evatt's side following Aaron Morley's return from a loan spell at highflyers Wycombe Wanderers.
"In terms of Terry Taylor as a midfielder coming in, we just don't need midfielders," Liam said to FLW.
"I've heard very good things about Taylor, when he's been fit for Charlton, going back quite a bit now, he's been very effective for them, but Morley's very unlikely to be going back to Wycombe now that they've had a managerial change.
"So, we just don't have the room in that position.
"All I would say is, based on the comments made by Ian Evatt after the Lincoln EFL Trophy game, is that they may be looking to completely refresh the squad, so it looks like starting players may be on their way out, like Dion (Charles)."
While the Greater Manchester club have been credited with interest in acquiring the Addicks midfielder's services on loan, Taylor may not be Bolton's main priority during the current transfer window.
As alluded to by Liam, Morley is seemingly unlikely to return to Wycombe now that former Chairboys boss Matt Bloomfield opted to join Championship strugglers Luton Town, in a move first revealed by Football League World.
The 24-year-old has already settled back into life at the Wanderers well too, and scored an additional-time winner for Evatt's side against Exeter City on January 4, remarkably just three days after performing the same feat against the Grecians while still on loan with the Chairboys.
But while the Devon side will still be sick of the site of Morley, his return to the North West is a major plus point for Evatt and co, who shouldn't be too disappointed if they miss out on Taylor's signature.
Perhaps Wanderers should now turn their heads towards bolstering their forward line, after long-serving striker Dion Charles looks set to join third tier rivals Huddersfield Town, instead of looking towards the engine room.
