Dorgeles Nene is leaving FC Red Bull Salzburg for the Turkish Süper Lig, having signed a long-term contract with Fenerbahce.
The artful attacker left his home country of Mali to join our Red Bulls in January 2021. After making a total of 31 appearances for our co-operation club FC Liefering (with 10 goals and 11 assists), Nene spent the second half of the 2021/22 season playing for SV Ried for six months (17 appearances, 2 goals and 3 assists). He then enjoyed a very successful spell at Belgian club KVC Westerlo in the 2022/23 season, where he scored a total of 13 goals and provided 4 assists in 36 appearances on loan.
Now, after 88 appearances with 22 goals and 15 assists – with 24 goal involvements last season alone – the 23-time Malian international's time with us is coming to an end and his chapter at Fenerbahce beginning.
Dorgeles Nene has developed enormously, above all in the past season, and has shown his individual quality. That has not gone unnoticed by a number of clubs in Europe, which has created a certain dynamic around him on the transfer market. Ultimately, it was not only the player's great desire to move to Fenerbahce that played a role, but also the financial terms. We wish Dorgeles all the best at his new club and for the future! As a result of the transfer, we are now in a position where we want to be active on the transfer market again and sign another attacking player.

Since I moved to FC Red Bull Salzburg from Mali as a very young player, I have experienced and learned an enormous amount. Playing for several clubs has also helped me to adapt quickly to new situations and has taken my development even further. I feel though that now is the right time for me to take the next step in my career. I would like to thank everyone in Salzburg who has supported me over the past few years and given me so many wonderful experiences both on and off the pitch.
