Dorival Júnior has been dismissed by Corinthians after a 1-0 defeat to Internacional at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, in the 10th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The result extended the team’s winless run to nine matches and intensified the crisis.

The club said in a statement that under-20 coach William Batista will oversee upcoming first-team sessions until a new head coach is confirmed. The exit underscores a worrying pattern at the club this decade, with eight managerial dismissals since 2021, more than one per season.

Before Dorival, Ramón Díaz was sacked in April 2025 after a 2-0 loss to Fluminense in the league. In 2024, António Oliveira and Mano Menezes departed. In 2023, Vanderlei Luxemburgo and Cuca left, while in 2022 and 2021 the contracts of Sylvinho and Vagner Mancini were ended.

Whoever takes charge will have little time to work amid a congested April schedule.

Corinthians are next in action on Thursday at 21:00, away to Platense at Estádio Coliseo de Victoria, in the opening round of the Libertadores group stage.
