Borussia Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken has confirmed the club’s interest in re-signing Jadon Sancho.

Sancho is set to become a free agent when his contract at Manchester United expires in the summer. The winger has spent the past two-and-a-half seasons out on loan, including a stint with Dortmund, after a disappointing period at Old Trafford.

Dortmund are keen to bring Sancho back to the Westfalenstadion for a third spell. The 26-year-old scored 53 goals and provided 67 assists in 158 games for the German side across his two previous stints.

He departed for Manchester United in a £72m deal in 2021, before returning for a six-month loan in 2023-24. During that six-month spell, he helped Dortmund reach the Champions League final.

Speaking to SportBILD, Ricken confirmed a deal to sign Sancho is being explored.

“We’re currently looking at a lot of players and analysing them closely,” he said.

“We check whether they can make us better. We’re doing that with Jadon as well.”

Sancho is currently on loan at Aston Villa, where he has made 31 appearances this season in all competitions, scoring once.
