Mason Mount is likely to remain at Manchester United next season with the midfielder ‘too expensive’ for potential suitors.
Mount has struggled to make the desired impact at Manchester United since signing from Chelsea for a £55m fee in 2023.
The 27-year-old has been plagued by fitness issues during his time at Old Trafford and has started just 23 league games across almost three seasons with the club.
Mount has been linked with a transfer away in the summer, but journalist Carl Anka has cast doubt on a potential move. He told the Talk of the Devils podcast that Mount’s concerning fitness record and high wages will be a stumbling block to any deal.
Aston Villa and Fulham are among the teams who have been linked with the ex-Chelsea midfielder.
“If you’re any club in the Premier League or in Spain, how can you afford Mason Mount? He’s got a bad injury record over the last few years, he’s on wages between £150k-200k a week.
“It’s a hard player to justify needing him in paying his wages and stumping up a fee of £30M which United would need to break even.
“I’m confident Mount will be a Manchester United player next season because he’s too expensive for any club to buy.”
