Draw in top-of-the-table clash: BVB women share the spoils with Bielefeld | OneFootball

Personnel mattersIn contrast to the previous away match in Moers, Ann-Sophie Vogel and Marina Scholz returned to the starting line-up; Melanie Schuster and Nora Willeke, however, took their places on the bench. Paula Reimann, having recovered from injury, was also on the bench ready for her first home match of 2026, which is why Frederike Kempe once again wore the captain's armband at kick-off.

The matchRight from the start, a lively match unfolded at the Rote Erde in front of 3,474 fans, with the visitors from Bielefeld taking a 1-0 lead as early as the 11th minute: top striker Jocelyn Hampel capitalised on a turnover by Frederike Kempe during build-up play and finished calmly to score her 20th goal of the season and give the visitors an early lead.

From then on, the Black & Yellows tried to turn the match around, though their efforts were at times marred by nervousness, misplaced passes and a general lack of precision. Ann-Sophie Vogel then had the first real chance to equalise in the 29th minute, but her shot effort, following a fine pass from Rita Schumacher, w as placed too centrally to bother the goalkeeper. As the game progressed, the Borussia players continued to push the visitors back – but they were unable to create much danger, relying mainly on long balls. Thanks in part to some passionate defending from Bielefeld, Borussia Dortmund went into the break trailing for the first time this season.

Coach Markus Högner brought on a fresh pair of legs for the second half: Paula Reimann replaced Jasmin Jabbes – and BVB started with real intensity. Vogel had the first shot on goal again, but her effort from a tight angle inside the box went just the wrong side of the right-hand post. This was followed by another period of sustained pressure from the Black & Yellows, with chances coming almost every minute: Ann-Sophie Vogel (57), Marina Scholz (58) and Rita Schumacher (61) all came close to levelling the score at 1-1. But the long-awaited equaliser finally arrived: just as the home side’s pressure had eased slightly, Frederike Kempe headed home a much-celebrated goal from a Schumacher corner.

The stage was thus set for a thrilling final quarter of an hour: Markus Högner’s side were now pushing for the much-deserved winning goal and had two more clear-cut chances, both falling to Rita Schumacher (78: well saved by Lisa Venrath; 88: long-range shot against the crossbar). Whilst time was clearly running out for the Borussia women, DSC limited themselves to clearing the ball deep from their own half. No further goals were scored, resulting in a draw.

On Matchday 21 of the Regionalliga West, the BVB women face DJK Wacker Mecklenbeck away (26 April, 13:00 CEST).
