Drone footage has captured immediate redevelopment work at Elland Road as Leeds United push ahead with their plans.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, planning permission was granted earlier this year for an expansion to around 53,000. The club intend to build a new West Stand first, then turn to the North Stand to modernise the ground and meet surging demand.

Work began almost as soon as the final home game ended, with journalists asked to leave the West Stand media room by seven pm so crews could start.

The drone video shows the Portakabins used by visiting sides as dressing rooms have been removed. Supplied by York firm Britcab before the first season back in the top flight under Marcelo Bielsa to satisfy Covid safety rules, they had remained in situ. Last week the cabins were returned to Britcab’s lab.

Partial demolition of the ticket office and a building that housed some LUTV operations is also visible. The floodlights are down, and crests have been taken off the banqueting suite at the rear of the West Stand.

A temporary structure behind the North Stand, expected to host corporate facilities during the works, was already going up before the season ended.
