Real Madrid seem to be in a hurry to lock down Denzel Dumfries using the €25m release clause, so Inter can battle Premier League sides for Marco Palestra.
The concern for the Nerazzurri was that they could not make a genuine move for Atalanta winger Palestra until they knew what the future held for Dumfries.
According to multiple reports including The Athletic today, that is no longer an issue, because Real Madrid are planning a purchase as soon as Sunday’s Presidential election is finalised.

Florentino Perez has seemingly promised incoming Jose Mourinho that a new right-back will be signed, picking Dumfries as the first choice.
The Dutchman has a €25m release clause in his contract, valid only for a certain period in the summer, and it’s reported personal terms won’t be an issue.
Dumfries turned 30 in April and has a contract with the Nerazzurri until June 2028, having been purchased from PSV Eindhoven in 2021 for just €14.25m.

Despite injuries, he still contributed five goals and two assists in 28 games this season on their way to the Scudetto and Coppa Italia Double.
Once that deal is understood, Inter can then begin to cobble together the cash to pay Atalanta’s €50m asking price for Palestra.
This too is a matter of urgency, as clubs ranging from Manchester City to Newcastle United and Arsenal have all set their sights on the Italy international.
