Early Man United team news for Palace as ‘incredible’ Red suffers ‘serious blow’ in training

Manchester United take to Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon in hopes of bouncing back from their Everton defeat at the earliest opportunity.

Ruben Amorim may have to do so without one of his most trusted lieutenants, though, as it’s currently undetermined whether Matheus Cunha will return from his setback in time to feature.

The attacker, hailed as ‘incredible’ by journalist Sam Pilger following his stellar performance against Liverpool last month, missed out on Monday night after suffering a head injury in training a few days prior.

Fans first learned of his issue when it was confirmed that he would not be attending the Altrincham Christmas light switch-on. Then, he was omitted from Amorim’s matchday squad entirely come kick-off.

Ben Jacobs has shed some light on the situation, though, saying that while Cunha did sustain a ‘serious blow’ to his head, there are hopes he can feature against the Eagles as long as all concussion protocols are followed.

As well as the Brazilian, supporters will be keeping their fingers crossed that Sunday could finally mark the long-awaited return of Lisandro Martinez.

He has not played for United since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in February, but he did make the bench against the Toffees last time out.

Amorim opted against utilising the Argentine, yet his inclusion would suggest he’s on the verge of getting his first minutes back on the pitch in the near future.

Benjamin Sesko remains sidelined with the knee complaint he picked up prior to the international break.

Kick-off is at 12pm on November 30; it was originally pencilled in for the early Saturday slot, but Palace’s midweek European action led to the clash being rescheduled.
