Eddie Howe resigns as Newcastle manager, Matthias Jaissle 'set to be presented'

Eddie Howe has resigned as Newcastle United head coach a week before a Trofeo Taronja visit to Valencia. The club have accepted his decision.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Matthias Jaissle will sign until June 2030 and is due to arrive on Saturday to be presented as Newcastle’s new head coach.

Newcastle will pay 11 million euros to Al Ahli to secure Jaissle.

Newcastle thanked Howe for his extraordinary contribution, highlighting Champions League nights, a Carabao Cup triumph and a renewed sense of belief.

His exit comes in a turbulent summer for the Magpies. Anthony Gordon has joined Barcelona and Sandro Tonali has moved to Tottenham. Bruno Guimarães could also depart in the coming days, with Arsenal interested.
