The striker has not played for the Three Lions since last summer’s Euros
The former Brentford striker, who now plays his football for Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, was named in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad on Friday morning for games with Andorra and Senegal next month.
Toney was part of the England squad that made it all the way to the final of Euro 2024 last summer, but he has not played for them since. The striker has performed well in Saudi Arabia, however, and he has scored 29 goals in 43 appearances for Al Ahli.
Explaining the striker’s return, Tuchel told England’s media channels: “We follow him closely, like all the players on our list. He's played a lot, we've watched him a lot and he's had massive contributions in decisive moments. He won the Asian Champions League with his club.
“I didn't have the opportunity to watch him play live in Saudi Arabia, so we took the opportunity to fly him in to our camp to watch him live within the group, see his personality and his quality. He will compete with Harry [Kane] and Ollie Watkins, so it will be interesting to have three strikers in the camp.”

Tuchel has named a strong squad, despite players having the Club World Cup in the United States next month on the horizon.
Dominic Solanke, fresh from winning the Europa League with Tottenham, misses out, along with West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, Manchester United’s Harry Maguire and Manchester City’s Phil Foden.
Foden recently opened up on his fitness issues and the need for a mental reset. “I just need a few weeks off without playing football and obviously I can’t get it at the moment,” he said.
Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher returns to the Three Lions squad with his first selection by Tuchel, and is joined by Jordan Henderson. Jude Bellingham is also included ahead of undergoing shoulder surgery later this summer.
Trevoh Chalobah has earned his first senior call-up, with Tuchel explaining: “Since the last camp, he has made a major contribution to Chelsea. He was one of their most consistent and best defenders, so we think he deserves the call-up and, maybe, gets his first cap.”

There remains no place for Arsenal’s Ben White, while Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford miss out through injury. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson are surprise absentees.
England are holding a six-day training camp before their game with Andorra on June 7, which is a World Cup qualifier to be held in Barcelona at the home of Espanyol. The Three Lions will then take on Senegal three days later in a friendly at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground.
Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is set to make his first appearance for England since October after also being named in Tuchel’s squad.
Saka missed England’s internationals in November last year through injury and then tore his hamstring the following month. After surgery on Christmas Eve, the 23-year-old was out of action until April and duly missed Tuchel’s first England camp in March.
Saka is back fit now, though, and has been named in the England squad for their games next month against Andorra and Senegal.
