Erling Haaland admits disappointment with Kylian Mbappé’s Real Madrid absence vs Man City | OneFootball

Manchester City star Erling Haaland has admitted that he was left disappointed by the news that Kylian Mbappé would play no part in the Sky Blues’ meeting with Real Madrid this evening.

Man City and Real are of course fresh off locking horns on the continent for the latest occasion on Wednesday.

When all was said and done, it was the latter who emerged triumphant, by two goals to one.

Star man Erling Haaland proved himself the difference-maker when it came to the scoreline, after slotting home the game’s decisive goal from the penalty spot during the first-half.

On the other hand, Real Madrid were unable to call on their leading goalscorer, after Kylian Mbappé was forced to sit out with a fitness problem.

And drawn on the absence of his Blancos counterpart following the full-time whistle at the Bernabéu, Erling Haaland admitted:

“We know about their injuries. We expected Kylian to play, of course when a player like that doesn’t play, you’re not happy because you want to play vs the best, but of course it’s a boost.”
